Kristina Sisco Romero is most known for her work as an actress on CBS Daytime’s As the World Turns where she earned two Daytime Emmy nominations. Additional accomplishments and credits include director, writer and web designer. Currently, Kristina runs her own web design company KR Media & Designs and has just finished her debut novel Calling Extra.

Kristina began her career as an actress on CBS Daytime’s As the World Turns, following that time she appeared on NBC Daytime’s Passions, Sands of Oblivion for the Sci-Fi Network and The Flock, a major motion picture starring Richard Gere and Claire Danes. Kristina received Daytime Emmy nominations for Outstanding Younger Actress in 2001 and 2002. As a filmmaker, Kristina has directed for As the World Turns, the short film Juche Rules as well as wrote, edited and directed the short film Abigail.
Kristina earned her Bachelor of Arts from Thomas Edison State College and her Masters in Professional Writing from the University of Southern California. Her One-act play Gone… won the MPW One-Act Play Festival and was preformed at the David Henry Hwang Theater in Los Angeles. The play was published in the Southern California Review’s 2007 Fall edition. Recently, Kristina finished her debut novel Calling Extra, a historical novel for younger readers.

When thirteen year-old Elsie Lutz witnesses her father apprehended for a crime he did not commit, she knows her life has changed forever. Now alone, Elsie must fend for herself on the streets of New York City in 1899. Tides change, however, when she befriends “Grin”, a newsboy with a kind heart and a mysterious past. Elsie soon finds herself involved in one of the greatest acts of social activism by children – the newsboy’s strike of 1899. Through the brotherhood of the newsboys, Elsie discovers her own courage, bravery and self-determination. But will what she learns be enough to face overwhelming odds, find her own voice, and free her father?
Calling Extra is inspired by the historical events of New York in the summer of 1899. The novel explores the Child Labor and Women Rights Movement, as well as immigration, and life in the impoverished slums of New York at the turn of the 20th Century. The novel follows thirteen year-old German immigrant Elsie and fifteen-year old newsboy “Grin” as their adventures weave in and out of many iconic and ground-breaking people, places and events of their time.
